By creating an account or using WalkAtlas, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. You must provide accurate information, keep your email and account details up to date, and only create an account if you are at least 16 years old or otherwise old enough to use the service under the law that applies to you.
You are responsible for the account created with your email address, username, or linked sign-in provider. You agree to keep your password and account access secure, and you authorize WalkAtlas to send account emails such as verification messages, login notices, service updates, and other important account communications.
WalkAtlas may use location information from your device if you allow it. WalkAtlas may also use locations that you select on the map, upload with a walk, or enter by address, route point, start point, or other location field. Location features are provided for convenience only and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unavailable, so you remain responsible for how you use any walk, route, map, or location information shown on the service.
If you upload or submit a walk, route, map, photo, review, caption, location, or other material, you confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it does not violate another person's privacy, copyright, image rights, land access rights, or other legal rights. If your submission includes another person, private property, or another creator's work, you are responsible for obtaining any permission or consent that may be required.
By submitting any walk, route line, map contribution, uploaded photo, image, caption, review, or related material to WalkAtlas, you agree that the submission is provided for WalkAtlas's business and community use. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you assign and transfer to WalkAtlas all right, title, and interest in that submitted material, including any intellectual property rights in the walk or photo, as soon as it is submitted.
If any part of that transfer is not legally effective in your jurisdiction, you grant WalkAtlas an exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free right and license to host, copy, store, adapt, translate, edit, publish, distribute, display, create derivative works from, commercialize, and otherwise use that material in any media and for any purpose. You also agree, to the extent permitted by law, to waive or not assert any moral rights in the submitted material. This means walks and uploaded photos may continue to be used by WalkAtlas even if your account is later closed or the original post is removed.
You must not use WalkAtlas to upload unlawful, abusive, misleading, infringing, dangerous, or harmful material. You must not impersonate another person, misuse another person's location, upload content you do not have rights to use, or rely on WalkAtlas as an emergency, navigation, safety, or land-access guarantee. Outdoor routes and map information can change quickly, so you are responsible for your own judgment and safety.
WalkAtlas may review, remove, edit, refuse, or restrict content or accounts at any time where reasonably necessary for safety, moderation, suspected infringement, abuse prevention, legal compliance, product operations, or protection of the service. WalkAtlas may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
WalkAtlas may update the service and these terms from time to time. When material changes are made, the updated version may be posted with a new date. Continued use of WalkAtlas after the updated terms take effect means you accept the updated terms.

WalkAtlas may collect the information you provide directly, such as your first name, username, email address, password credentials handled through authentication tools, profile details, uploaded profile pictures, uploaded walk photos, walks you add, route points, map selections, completed-walk records, friend activity, and any text, review, or message you send through the service.
WalkAtlas may collect precise or approximate location data from your device when you allow it, and may also collect or infer location from map clicks, saved start points, route lines, uploaded walk data, IP-based device information, address searches, and addresses or places that you manually type or choose on the map. If you do not want device location to be used, you can turn location permissions off in your device settings and use manual map or address tools instead.
WalkAtlas may use personal information to create and manage your account, verify your email, let you sign in, show map and walk features, support location-based functionality, display your submitted content, help people find walks, improve the service, monitor performance, prevent abuse, investigate misuse, and communicate with you about your account or the service.
WalkAtlas may share information with service providers that help operate the service, such as authentication, hosting, storage, analytics, mapping, geocoding, and support providers. WalkAtlas may also share information where your content is made public or visible to other users through the service, where required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the operation of the service.
Walks, route data, map contributions, reviews, usernames, and photos that you choose to submit may be displayed within community, profile, social, map, or search features. Because the terms above assign submitted walks and photos to WalkAtlas or grant WalkAtlas equivalent exclusive rights where assignment is unavailable, that material may be reused, adapted, kept in archives or backups, and continued in the service even after an account is deleted or a post is removed, subject to applicable law.
WalkAtlas may retain account data, technical logs, safety records, submitted content, backups, and related business records for as long as reasonably necessary for service operation, moderation, legal compliance, dispute resolution, enforcement, analytics, and legitimate business purposes. Different types of data may be kept for different periods.
You can usually update account details from the service, choose whether to grant device-location access, and decide whether to submit a walk, map, address, or photo. You may also request account deletion or correction of account information where those options are available, although WalkAtlas may still retain certain records, backups, and WalkAtlas-owned submissions where permitted or required by law.
WalkAtlas may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product, legal, operational, or safety changes. The latest version may be posted with a new date, and continued use of WalkAtlas after the updated policy takes effect means you acknowledge the updated policy.
